Grace and Peace, a publication of the Church of the Nazarene, has published an interfere with me, “John Wesley and Theological Identity: An Interview with Ted A Campbell.” Grace and Peace 12 (Winter 2016), 58-62. The article can also be read online online here.

Since 2010, I have been involved in some Dallas-area local history projects. Appearing this month is an article on “Roads form the Red River” in the Dallas Historical Society’s Legacies journal. In 2011 I released a video called “Houxland,” documenting the original settlers (the Houx family) in the area that is now my neighborhood in Dallas and the story of the area from their time to the present.  Two shorter Youtube videos based on this are available:

This tries to get at the question of how John Wesley actually spoke and performed his sermons. I’ve used an actor (Russell Jonas) for this, but it’s not an attempt at “historical reenactment.” The actor helps me envision some of the specific things that John Wesley said about preaching performance in Wesley’s “Directions concerning Pronunciation and Gesture,” and he and I have a couple of conversations about the meaning of Wesley’s “Directions.”

Just heard from my publisher that The Sky is Falling, The Church Is Dying, and Other False Alarms and my volume of John Wesley letters are scheduled to be published this fall. That’s a wee bit later than I had hoped, but I’m glad to know they’re moving to production.

I finished editing a volume of John Wesley’s letters for the on-going Bicentennial Edition in the last year. This will be volume 27 in the series. Yesterday I sent in part of the back cover description: “The correspondence presented in this third of seven planned volumes of Wesley’s Letters illuminates critical developments in the Wesleyan movement in the period between 1756 and 1765 including very significant rifts between John Wesley and his brother Charles and between John Wesley and his wife Mary, Wesley’s attempts to deal with radical enthusiasts and separatists (such as Thomas Maxfield) within the Methodist movement, his relationship to Greek Orthodox leader Gerasimos (Erasmus) Avlonites, and Wesley’s activities related to the Seven Years War.”

My essay on “The Missing Memory of Jehu: An Essay on the Preservation of Data Through Time” has been published by the SMU Digital Repository. This is an essay on the preservation of data through time. Regardless of media (oral, written, computer-based), data are preserved only temporarily on media and for the long term by copying.
